Anita Woven Lanyards
Our partner is a socially conscious brand that is working to break the cycle of poverty by connecting shoppers to weavers & seamstresses in Guatemala + leather workers in Ethiopia. They oversee design and production for the talented artisans on their teams as a way to support long term employment opportunities. Their goal is simple: to be an agent of change in the fashion industry while connecting like-minded women around the world.
Handmade with hand spun cotton, botanically dyed by hand and loomed into cotton fabric. With every item purchased with us, a tree is planted in partnership with the National Forest Foundation.
Myth has it that the Mayan goddess, Ixchel, taught the first woman how to weave at the beginning of time. Since then, Mayan mothers have taught their daughters, from generation to generation uninterruptedly for three thousand years, how to wrap themselves around a backstrap loom and produce exquisite cloth. Mayan women love to weave, as weaving keeps them connected to their ancestors, and within the sacred and cultural Mayan universe.
