Clay Serving Dish Trio
Lombok Pottery Center is a collection of four cooperatives: a staff cooperative and three village production cooperatives. They started in 1988 working with potters to improve the standard of living for them and for their families. In 2005, the Lombok Pottery Project became a legal business owned by the potters’ cooperatives and a staff cooperative. The ultimate goal of the project is to create a sustainable environment for the potters and the community. The potters have come from a community in which living standard is low, and where illiteracy and infant mortality rates are high
With every item purchased with us, a tree is planted in partnership with the National Forest Foundation.
The art of ceramics uses non-metalic materials, most often clay, that is shaped, fired and adorned by hand. There is a long history of ceramic art in almost all developed cultures, and often ceramic objects are all the artistic evidence left from vanished cultures.
