Silver Sari Chain

$ 64.00

Handmade in Bangladesh by young women that are at  great risk of being sold into trafficking and are often discarded by husbands or families when they are deemed "expendable." Our partner's vision is to help these women rediscover their dignity and inherent value not only through meaningful work, but also by welcoming them as part of their family. They dream of a day when women are not at risk of exploitation and no longer live in fear.
Handmade using upcycled vintage sari threads. With every item purchased with us, a tree is planted in partnership with the National Forest Foundation.
Historians have found the first signs of jewelry ever being worn in Africa, almost 75,000 years ago. When it comes to creating jewelry, Africans will use everything they have access to. For this reason, African jewelry can be made out of a wide variety of materials, from bone and shells to animal teeth and hair. Throughout history, jewelry-making has been the preserve of women, with mothers teaching their daughters how to create pieces.
